Die globale Pandemie kam plötzlich und traf uns unvorbereitet. Das Leben in der Slowakei kam fast zum Stillstand und kommt nur sehr langsam wieder in Bewegung. Ich porträtiere mit Schutzmaske, meine Fotomodelle tragen ebenfalls eine Maske. Am meisten vermisse ich die nonverbalen Gesten, das Lächeln sowie die ungezwungene Kommunikation beim Fotografieren. Meine Brille ist noch immer beschlagen, die Welt um mich herum sieht derzeit völlig verändert aus. Ich glaube, das ist der Raum, der für Fotografen und Künstler geschaffen wurde, um festzuhalten, was um uns herum geschieht. Pandemie: Ich trage Handschuhe, eine Schutzmaske, benutze Desinfektionsmittel und entscheide mich dafür, meine Fotos in Roma-Siedlungen in der Nordslowakei zu machen sowie in einem Krankenhaus in Bratislava, wo Freiwillige Corona-Tests durchführen. So halte ich den Alltag der Menschen in den Städten fest. Die Bilder, die wir hinterlassen, werden von der Zeit erzählen, als das Virus unser Leben bestimmte.

The global pandemic came suddenly and caught us unprepared, life in Slovakia almost stopped and only very slowly it starts moving again. I portrait in a veil, the respondents also have it, I miss non-verbal gestures, smiles and normal communication when taking photos. My glasses are still foggy, the world around me now looks completely different. I think that is where space is created for photographers and artists in general to capture what is happening around them. Pandemic - a non-pandemic, you need to wear gloves, a veil, a disinfectant and choose to take pictures of Roma settlements in the north of Slovakia, volunteers who test at a hospital in Bratislava, to capture the daily life of people in cities. The images that follow us will tell us how we lived at a time when the virus was invading our lives.
